… whether it’s
food or flowers… gardeners know a secret… through the soil of the earth…
The Creator
Speaks…
Have you ever had so much love pinned up in your heart
that you thought it would explode? Many
years ago, the love in my heart poured out onto a man. It was intense. There
was nothing particularly exceptional about that particular man, but I found
myself exceptionally attracted to him. We rendezvoused for a time, but alas, my
love was unrequited.
One thing that I’ve learned about love is that it lives
inside of us. It searches for an outlet… somewhere to go, a recipient to host.
Well, I found myself with an abundance of pinned up love with nowhere to go. I
was heartbroken and miserable.
Finally, what I now infer was the Holy Spirit speaking
through my mind, I was impressed to plant a flower garden… from seed. Because I
had never planted anything a day in my life, I had no clue of how to go
about planting a garden. With a little research, I went to work. I mapped out
the areas to use for my beds. I purchased everything that I needed: seed, soil,
gloves and a hose; I then set about my task.
Early mornings, armed with my little Boombox, I’d head
outdoors. With smooth jazz quietly serenading, the soft breeze of mid to late
spring air gently kissing my face and the sun not
yet overpowering the day, I worked. Gardening is physical yet satisfying
labor. I busily mapped, designed, cleared, cleaned, dug, poured,
mixed, planted, watered, weeded and finally… LIFE!! I saw life and love
bloom from the earth.
And here is the most important and amazing part…
throughout those early morning sessions... God spoke His beautiful language of
love, wisdom, peace and healing to my broken heart. He healed me.
